Worst movies 2010

While new director like Abhinav Kashyap (Dabangg), Abhishek Chaubey (Ishqiya) and Abhishek Sharma (Tere Bin Laden) scripted a success story at the box-office, big directors and big budget movies failed miserably at the BO. Here're 2010's top ten worst films.

1) Hisss: The top slot goes to Mallika Sherawat's snake tale Hisss that didn't quite impress the viewers. Mallika's sloppy onscreen kiss with the snake, shady direction, and lack of script couldn't help either.
2) Raavan: Abhishek Bachchan went on record to say it's his best performance ever. Friends in the industry went berserk praising this Mani Ratnam's film. But unfortunately nothing could have worked for this film as viewers couldn't understand the movie in the first place.
3) Kites: Even Hrithik Roshan's sizzling chemistry with Barbara Mori and his divorce rumour couldn't save the film from Raavantanking at the box-office. Made at a mega budget, this Rakesh Roshan film could neither win the hearts of people nor could recover its costs.
4) Veer: People had great expectations from the film, as Salman Khan was touted to emerge in a new avatar, with a new girl Zarine Khan. The film written by Salman Khan was an epic film, set during the 1825 Pindari movement of Rajasthan, when India was ruled by the British. But not every film is a Jodhaa Akbar. This film was certainly not. It failed miserably at the box office.
5) Milenge Milenge: Plump and beautiful Kareena was paired up with slim and kiddish Shahid in a film with run-of-the-mill storyline. The lead couple of the movie don't look the same way anymore, and the film looked stale, if compared to today's filmmaking style. Satish Kaushik, who excelled in making such films once, got everything wrong in this one. Blame it on the time factor, as this film was dabba-band for many years before seeing the light of the day.
6) Dunno Y...Na Jaane Kyun: The film that garnered eyeballs for being the first-ever gay film failed to do justice to its subject. The badly written and fragmented script only added to the nightmarish experience of watching this movie.
7) Hum Tum Aur Ghost: Success of Bhootnath made good ghosts popular in Bollywood. But none of the ensuing movies could keep up with the trend. Jackie Shroff's Bhoot Uncle is one example. Arshad Warsi's production Hum tum Aur Ghost, a ghost comedy failed on several counts and was one of the worst movies of 2010.
8) Prince: Neeru Bajwa's skin show and Vivek Oberoi's stunts couldn't save this film from becoming a box-office disaster.
9) Help: Bollywood is flooded with B-grade horror movies, and this film could be conveniently added to this list. Though the peformance of Mugdha Godse was praised by a section of critics, the film couldn't do well overall.
10) Crook: Based on racial discrimination against Indians in Australia, the film faced flak for lack of research from both Indian and Australian media. Emraan's skin show couldn't help either.

Salman Khan: Reasons For Birthday Boy‘s Immense Popularity In 2010

Well, to begin with his film released earlier this year Veer, had a very pretty new girl Zarine Khan who was the splitting replica of Salman’s girl friend at that time Katrina Kaif. Now even before Salman himself realized that Zarine looked exactly like Kat, the gossip mongers worked in full swing to make him also agree ultimately that yes, Zarine did look like his girlfriend Kat a lot. Even though the movie was a disaster at the box office, Salman Khan’s popularity did not wane.
His second release Dabangg was one of the few super hit blockbusters of the year and his role as Chulbul Pandey was just the talk of the nation for a good year.
Then came his stint on the small screen. The ‘Bigg Boss Season 4′ which started in October has been one of the most popular reality shows on the television and having the dude Salman Khan hosting it in his own style has made it even more popular with the viewers.
Salman Khan’s other claim to the being on the most popular celebrity of the year was his charity organization ‘Being Human’, where he has contributed in various ways to help out the kids in need. His efforts to raise money by holding fashion shows, launching the brand ‘Being Human’ watches, giving a watch each to each inmate of the Bigg Boss house eviction are all reasons enough to make this hunk the most talked about star of the year.
Then there is his growing closeness to SRK’S friends like KJO, who is supposed to pay Salman for coming to his chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’, where the money will go to the ‘Being Human’ foundation, to his growing fondness to SRK’S once good friend Farah Khan with whom he appeared on various TV shows as a guest, all made headlines during the year. The one breaking news was when Shahrukh had said in a show that probably his enmity with Farah and Salman were his own fault, which all again had Salman grabbing attention from media. Then there is the news about his alleged wedding to co-actor Asin, which of course turned out to be a squib.
Well, since Salman Khan’s birthday is today, he was wished well in advance by Katrina Kaif, as she had had been spotted going to his Bandra home to visit him and his family to wish him on Saturday night itself. She was reportedly there for more than an hour. This gesture from Kat has once again proved their detractors wrong as the two share a great friendship even now, as opposed to what was being said.
We too wish this star a very Happy Birthday and a fantastic year ahead!

Vidya Balan Portrayed Sabrina Lall Without Meeting Her

No One Killed Jessica, slated to release early next year has Vidya Balan playing the role of Sabrina Lall, the sister of model Jessica Lall, who was killed more than a decade ago. In an interview, Vidya said that she studied the case history of the model and the steps, which Sabrina took to achieve justice for her sister. Sabrina, however, read this script before the film went on floors with director Rajkumar Gupta.
Vidya shares that when the killing had actually happened, she was herself a young student. It had motivated her to see the youth voicing their thoughts on the killing and asking the judicial system for justice to be delivered.
For Vidya, playing the role has been emotionally taxing, and after the shoot, she says she understands what Sabrina must have gone through, although she had never met or spoken to hr personally. Thus, she believes, the battle for justice should have been shorter than what it turned out to be.
For now, Vidya is touring various cities in India with Rani Mukerji (who plays a journalist in the film) for promotion of the film.
The film is focussed not on how and why did Jessica get killed, but how Sabrina faced the challenge of getting justice for her sister.

Kareena Will Decide On The Marriage Front: Saif Ali Khan

There has been enough discussion about Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's marriage! We have come across lots of comments from both of them but none of them have given real indication about the time when they will tie the knot. Saif has already taken the marriage vows once and is happy with two kids from his former wife Amrita Singh. So, it seems there is no hurry from his side and Kareena is also at peak of her career and is only 30 now. The hottest couple of Bollywood does not seem to be interested in tying the knot at this moment considering their career is going great these years.
However, Saif is quite intelligent and shifted the question towards Kareena saying that he is ready for taking the vows once Kareena is comfortable and happy with this. The couple has been dating since last three years and the question has been haunting them since last two years. Saif once made it clear that Bebo is not required to convert herself before getting married to him so there is no problem in this aspect. She has also reached a comfort level with his two kids and family, so no barrier here too.
So, why is Kareena waiting to say yes for marriage to `chote nawab'? She has given enough to Bollywood and can easily continue her journey in the industry even after turning `choti begum' considering the fact that Saif's mother and sister are actresses themselves.
Saif says that he will remain committed the same way even if he is not married to Kareena but we think the lady should come out with a serious decision very soon. In 2009, Bebo was quoted saying that she would get married by 2012 with Saif and would like to have two kids! We hope she sticks to her decision.

Perhaps my song brought Kajol-Ajay together: Anu Malik

Bollywood music director Anu Malik feels a strong bond with stars Kajol and Ajay Devgn, so much so that he believes his songs might be the reason the couple fell in love. "I don't know whether I'm Kajol's lucky mascot or she is mine but we have had some great hits. I feel a karmic connection with

Kajol and Ajay," Malik told IANS. "They never admit to this, but I have a strong suspicion that it was my song 'I am 16' in the film Hulchul starring the couple that brought them together. They'll never say it, how they fell in love, but they were magical in that song and I think it all started from there," he added.
ajayMalik has composed for Kajol in films like Baazigar, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain and Hulchul while for Ajay he as composed in Vijaypath and Diljale. Now after many years he has given music for their film Toonpur Ka Superhero, which is a live action animation film.
The 50-year-old, who has given many chartbuster scores in films like Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Judwaa, Border, Refugee and Main Hoon Na, revealed that giving music for this film was extremely challenging.
"This has been a very close and special film for me as a creative person in the last 32 years of my career. It's not a very easy project to compose music for."

"This was a challenge for me. The fact as to how do I compose a theme that is hummable? How do I keep the theme of the film alive? These factors were roving in my mind. So getting that right was a task," he said. The film, directed by Kireet Khurana, is slated to hit screens Dec 24. It includes six tracks, four of which have been used in the film.
According to the composer, people start judging very soon, so it's possible that they find the soundtrack different, but that's how it was supposed to be made.
"People start judging very soon. They may not like the soundtrack, I'm open to criticism but it's very important for people to understand that all these are situation-based songs, hence different," he expressed. "We cannot have an item number or a love song because the situations don't demand them," he added.
Asked how important sound was for an animation film, he said "Sound is very important for an animation film because it conveys a lot. It adds a lot to the film. It's just that the sound has to be exactly what the director has conceived then it will be more effective."

Hrithik, Priyanka pair up again!

Priyanka Chopra will work with Hrithik Roshan in two movies next year —Krrish 2 and the Agneepath remake. “It’s a coincidence that Hrithik and I will be together for long spells after about five years. It’s too early to talk about Krrish 2, but I’m happy that the film is

finally flagging off. Agneepath will also roll in January,” beams the actor.

Haven’t director Karan Malhotra and producer Karan Johar reworked the part of the nurse in Agneepath and turned her into a sex worker? “The film has been adapted to modern times and even the love track has been redrafted. Beyond Krrishthis, my lips are sealed,” smiles Chopra, who’s equally upbeat about Vishal Bhardwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf that opens on February 18. “It’s been my toughest role so far and I’m anxious to see how people react to my performance.”

She is also in talks with Madhur Bhandarkar. And no, not for Heroine, which had been planned with Kareena Kapoor, but was reportedly shelved. “If he has a script that suits us both, we’ll work together again. Fashion (2008) bagged me the National Award, remember?” she says.

Kapoor and Chopra were in a catfight of sorts on Koffee With Karan, with barbs about where accents had been picked up from. But recently when the two met at a function, they were all smiles. “I reacted to her comment on my accent by saying I had got it from the same place that her boyfriend got it from. It was all fun and games. Everyone keeps cribbing that I’m too diplomatic so this time I let go. And the media made a big hoo haa about it,” she grimaces. Lara Dutta, with whom she started her film career, on the other hand has flagged off her production company with Chalo Dilli, which is currently being shot in Jaipur. Chopra is excited for Dutta: “We haven’t spoken about her project and what we can do together. I’m glad she’s taken such a brave step.”
She recently walked the ramp for Salman Khan’s Being Human charity. When did they bury the hatchet? “It’s a great cause and I met so many of the girls over there after a really long time. It took just one phone call from Salman to get me on board,” she says.
The National Award-winner made her small screen debut this year too, replacing Akshay Kumar as the host of Khatron Ke Khiladi (KKK) 3. The show registered one of the highest opening ratings in the year and the lowest closing TRPs. Will she return to the show with season four? “Of course, but it will depend on my shooting schedule. I have a lot happening next year, but if the combination works out with Colors, I’d love to be a part of KKK again,” she asserts, admitting that she has also been approached for several other reality shows. “But it should wrap up in 20 days. Only then I’ll do TV.”

I'm not offered wicked roles: Konkona Sen

Enough of goodie goodie roles for Konkona Sen Sharma. The two-time National Award winner says she enjoyed playing a sexually aggressive woman in Vinay Shukla's Mirch and laments that not too many such roles come her way. "The roles that I get offered are very good and of serious women who   are morally upright, righteous and honest. But I was dying to do this one (Mirch). I never get offered this kind of roles," Konkona told IANS in a telephonic chat from her Mumbai home.
KonkanaDealing with the libido of women who have an uncontrollable urge for sex, the Big Pictures production hit the screens Friday. Stringing together four stories, the movie has the actress playing the lead in two of them.
"These women have an element of wickedness which I really enjoy playing. For that matter I enjoyed playing two wicked women in the movie," quipped the actress, who turned 31 early this month.
But, for that matter, wasn't there a sense of wickedness in her National Award winning role in Omkara already?
"Wickedness! Really?" she questioned in an astonished tone. "I think, of everybody else (in the movie) she was the nicest. She didn't kill anybody. I was the only person who was clean. She was not at all wicked," said the actress, who also has to her credit acclaimed performances in Page 3, Traffic Signal, Life in a...Metro and The President Is Coming.
But she has been an active member of the so-called independent, art house and parallel cinema. Ask the dusky beauty if that was deliberate or she was simply offered these roles, and she skips answers diplomatically.
"It's a bit of both, you know... I do get offered some sensible roles also, but the ones that I have liked have turned out to be like these (defined genres) usually," said Konkona, who also won laurels for her performance in Luck By Chance and Wake Up Sid.
"I do get offered all kind of films by and large, but the bulk of it I may say is of a certain sensibility. But...not always. O god, I can't even say that," she confessed childishly.
Daughter of renowned Bengali actress-filmmaker Aparna Sen, she inherited her cerebral prowess and on-screen skills from her doting mother.
Having worked in her directorial ventures like Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, 15 Park Avenue and the recent Iti Mrinalini, the daughter has taken a fancy to teaming up with her mother.
"I love working with my mother. I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for her. She is one of the best filmmakers and she has always given me absolutely fantastic roles. I am privileged to work with her," said the actress who recently tied the knot with long term beau Ranvir Shorey.
In the family way, Konkona is on a sabbatical from the big screen.
"I am actually on a break. I won't be starting anything new till the half of next year. So as of now, I have Mirch and Iti Mrinalini releasing this year and I've done a cameo in Saat Khoon Maaf," she said.
Isn't she missing acting? "I miss working and I am looking forward to working again soon," said KoKo, as she is fondly called.
Jog your memory hard and what strikes you is that the actress also made her directorial debut with the Bengali short film Naamkoron in 2006. So any plans to go a step further into feature film direction some day?
"Oh, I'd love to at some point, but there are no firm plans yet," said the St. Stephen's College alumnus, who misses the "beautiful Delhi winters".

Mayank Shekhar's review: Mirch

Knotty, naughty! Review: Mirch Director: Vinay Shukla Actors: Arunoday Singh, Konkona Sensharma, Raima Sen Rating: *** Possession is the flipside of love. All lovers are possessive. The man, over generations, has hidden his persecution complex under the garb of physical strength. He’s emotionally much weaker, his ego, far more delicate. An unfaithful lover can destroy him. Completely. Well they do, in this case. There are four hitched men (Rajpal Yadav, Prem Chopra, Shreyas Talpade, Boman Irani). Each husband is insecure, boring and arguably ugly in his own way. They exist in different time periods -- two ancient, the other two, more urban, contemporary. The film is in parts Utsav and Life In A Metro!
The film plays out four separate stories, connected only by the fact that the woman (Sen, Sensharma) in each case is the proverbial man in the relationship. She guiltlessly cheats on her husband. She prefers an over-built brawn (Arunoday Singh) -- the way a guy inevitably falls for a better-looking broad -- over a devoted, stable spouse at home. At one point, one of the characters rightly questions how a woman who makes money enjoying sex, is a despicable whore. The man who actually spends on her for the same pleasures, on the other hand, isn't quite. True.
A luckless, aspiring writer-director in the film narrates these stories to a commercial producer, who isn’t easy to please. To assure him, the writer says he’s inspired by the wit (read, twists in the tale) of those stories than the wily women and loser men they portray. The producer isn’t convinced yet.
raimaThis premise of the failing artistic filmmaker who hangs posters of Guru Dutt, Madhubala, Francois Truffaut’s 400 Blows in his wall, reads Bergman’s interviews, is certainly a tad farty. The director learns he has to play by rules of the market. The game should still be his own.
The stories he spins bear lengths of an extended SMS, are together worth a four-act theatrical production, with sex as “saleable star”. This was true also with a lot of European art-house once, as many (like Satyajit Ray in his critical pieces) would contend.
The four short films, fable-like, with fine actors, eventually turn out to be utterly simple and instantly amusing. As you can see. Sometimes that’s all you want from a film!

Old melodies make a comeback in Bollywood

There is something about old songs that Bollywood filmmakers keep revisiting the golden era of 1970s and 80s in an attempt to cash-in on the nostalgia. The filmmakers often buy the original song and remix it with extra beats to score a success on the music charts and the trend is catching onfast. Latest to join the bandwagon is Dharmendra's film Yamla Pagla Deewana. The actor, who turned 75 recently, will be seen dancing with his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol on the number, which was picturised on him in 1975 hit Pratigya.
Apart from Yamla Paglaa Deewana, Ranvir Kapoor starrer Bachna Ae Haseeno, Shahrukh's Don, Akshay Kumar's Housefull and Ajay Devgan's latest release Golmaal 3 relied on old Bollywood numbers to brighten the prospect of their movies.
The legendary music director Pyarelal, who along with Laxmikant formed a formidable music pair of yesteryears, attributes it to the lack of quality in the present music.
"The quality of Hindi film music has seen a downfall and the timeless melodies era of music directors like Shankar -Jaikishan, Madan-Mohan, Khayyam, O P Nayyar, S D Burman will never be recreated," says the veteran musician who has composed music for over 500 films and won seven Filmfare awards.
"Nowadays the emotional bonding of the song with the listener is temporary as music directors give more attention to rhythm and beat and lose control over its melody due to the lack of knowledge," says the director. After almost nine years, Pyarelal did a composition for Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om.
Film critic Taran Adarsh feels that old songs are still fresh in public memory and including them in a film ensures quick publicity.
"The recall value of old Hindi songs based on ragas are so tremendous that even after 30-35 years, people are listening to the tunes with same interest. Filmmakers are trying to generate same hysteria to boost their box-office sales," says Adarsh.
"Through remixing or adopting the original songs, producers like Sajid Khan in Housefull, Ram Gopal Varma in Sholay and Farhan Akhtar in Don successfully used the success mantra to create some kind of viewer's interest before release of the film," Adarsh adds.
While some songs were picturised on the original actors like Dharmendra in Yamla Pagla Deewana and Mithun Chakravarti in Golmaal 3, others see present superstars dancing on the popular tunes.
"Old hit songs carry a nostalgic value with them and if same star performs on that song in a new movie like Mithun Chakravati did in Golmaal 3 and Dharmendra in Yamla..., people enjoy watching it while it's a new experience for youngsters," says Komal Nahata, a film market analyst.
Housefull found box-office success with a remix of a popular hit song from a 1981 Amitabh Bachchan movie, Laawaris. The songs I am a Disco Dancer and Yaad aa raha hai from Mithun's blockbuster film Disco Dancer had been woven into the narrative of the film Golmaal 3.

Munni Malaika disappointed by Zandu balm

While it is Sheila’s season currently, the magic of Munni is still hovering around…. Malaika Arora Khan grabbed the attention of one and all with her sizzling item number in ‘Dabangg’ and since then the beauty has not relaxed a bit.
The song made her so popular, thanks to the Zandu Balm lyrics, that Malaika was immediately made the ambassador of the brand and got her hands full, shooting for its ads.
Now what’s disappointing for Malaika is that due to these shootings she didn’t get chance to celebrate her 12th wedding anniversary with Arbaaz Khan, also the producer of ‘Dabangg’. She rued, "I was shooting for the commercials of Zandu balm in three different languages during my wedding anniversary. We shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi over a period of three days."
While she shared the screen with South superstar Surya for Tamil, she had NTR Junior for Telugu. And when asked what about the Hindi version, pat came the reply, "I was the hero of that one along with the song!”
Choreographed by Prabhudeva, the three ads were shot atop a train and portray a blend of “Chaiyyan Chaiyyan” and “Munni” songs.
Don’t worry Malaikaji, we are sure your hubby would compensate for the day and has planned something very special….. Anyways our best wishes to you both!

Sonakshi Sinha to star opposite Akshay Kumar in Joker

After impressing one and all with her performance in Dabangg, Sonakshi Sinha is certainly a hot property. The pretty actress has been signed by Shirish Kunder for his ambitious 3D directorial venture Joker. Sonakshi would be paired opposite none other than Akshay Kumar in Joker.

Explaining his choice of why Sonakshi for the leading lady, Shirish reasons, "Sonakshi fitted the role perfectly. Hers is an extremely performance oriented character which is there throughout the film with Akshay. Besides another reason for choosing Sonakshi is the fact that she and Akki would be a fresh on-screen pair considering Akshay has worked with most of the top leading ladies." Unlike Dabangg in which she played a village belle, Sonakshi would be seen playing a modern girl in Joker.

Besides Akshay and Sonakshi, Joker would also boast of a huge supporting cast which Shirish would be announcing in the days to come. Commenting on whether there will be some Hollywood technicians involved considering that it's a 3-D film, Shirish says, "Most of the technicians will be from India but yes, since this a new technology, we would be using the expertise of some experienced names from Hollywood too."

Joker is a co-production between Farah Khan & Shirish Kunder's Three's Company and Akshay's Hari Om Entertainment. The film goes on floors in January 2011 and will be mostly shot all around India.

Shahrukh makes Rajkumar Hirani’s dream come true

Bollywood baadshah Shahrukh Khan has made B-town’s prime helmer Rajukumar Hirani’s dream come true….
King Khan agreed to obey Hirani’s orders as a director and has acted under his supervision. Yes, finally the dream of Raju Hirani (as he's fondly called) to direct Shahrukh Khan happened and everybody is delighted.
Raju Hirani always wanted to direct SRK for his Munna bhai series; King Khan was also the first choice for ‘3 Idiots’ but it didn’t happen for some reasons.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra tried his best to get the Bollywood superstar to act in his ambitious projects directed by Raju Hirani but somehow it didn’t work out.
Now it seems SRK has realized the potential of Raju Hirani and he agreed to shoot for a film but not a feature film.

Mumbai Express

‘Madhur understands women better'
Both Ajay and Madhur Bhandarkar have one thing in common — they started off with serious images but have now taken to comedy. Hopefully, the actor-director pair will swing it in Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji.
Ajay claims, “Madhur always makes serious films. But this comedy of his is better than his earlier films. There are three different male characters in the film — and Madhur is able to think for all three and explain the relationships they have with women. Nobody can understand women better than Madhur.”
He cheekily adds, “The film's caption, ‘Love grows… men don't', is perfect for Madhur.”
Akshay-Katrina sizzle
The star struck among Mumbai's janta had a field day ogling at Akshay and Katrina when the Tees Maar Khan team held a beach party at a Juhu hotel. A stage was set up overlooking the beach and when the stars danced onstage accompanied by multi-hued lights, huge sound consoles and background dancers, the spectacle sent the crowd into a tizzy. Director Farah Khan in a black churidhar and a hand-band (due to a painful cyst in her right wrist) supervised the show shouting instructions from backstage and deciding the order of the performances. A tad nervous about Katrina getting late for the event, she calmed down once ‘Roadies brothers' Raghu and Rajeev, dressed in identical red shirts and white denims, put on the Siamese act — they were joined together at the waist by a belt. Kamaal Khan sang the boisterous qawali track ‘Wallah re wallah'. Sonu Nigam, sporting his trademark long locks, performed live to the TMK title track. Repeating the original song, Sonu sang the lyrics in various quirky voices and left the audience agape.
The highlight of the event was — no prize for guessing — Katrina Kaif gyrating to ‘Sheela ki jawani'. The beauty danced with élan. Halfway through her act, Akshay Kumar (sporting a green sweatshirt and a pierced eyebrow reprising his Tees Maar Khan character) joined in. Akshay's energy was infectious and Farah, who was backstage, remarked, “Akki is rocking it!” At the fag end of the show, Farah joined her lead players in the dance, leaving the crowd roaring for an encore.
No package deal
Though the Abhi-Ash chemistry did not work in Raavan, everyone is curious about when they will be paired together again. But Abhishek clearly states, “We are not a package deal. You have to respect us as individual actors. She does a film when she likes it and is creatively inspired to be part of it. As of now, nothing is on the cards.”
But weren't Abhi-Ash supposed to star in cinematographer-cum-director Rajiv Menon's Dhun? Abhishek clarifies, “No, the project has been put on the backburner because everyone is busy doing other things.”
No wife? No problem!
The main grouse against Akshaye Khanna is that he makes very few appearances on the big screen. However, Akshaye claims that 2010 has been different. He says, “Aakrosh was released recently and I'm gearing up for Anil Kapoor's No Problem followed by Farah's Tees Maar Khan.”
However, Akshaye's habit of pushing the subject of marriage under the carpet continues. He laughs, “I consider Anil Kapoor to be my elder brother. He says marriage is a problem, and what's more,” Akshaye adds with a grin, “his wife Sunita, seconds him.”
Gallant Ranveer
Anushka Sharma is impressed by rookie Ranveer Singh's gallantry. After all, her Band Baaja Baaraat co-star got her out of a difficult situation. As Anushka recalls, “We play wedding planners in the film and we were shooting an emotional scene on the Delhi roads. Ranveer was giving me cues, but a shop-owner, whose business was presumably affected because of the shooting, started shouting at the entire unit. I was unable to concentrate on my shot till Ranveer marched up to the disgruntled shop-owner and told him to cooperate as this was his first film. And voila! The shopkeeper obliged!”

Madhuri Dixit will be judging Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 4

Madhuri dDxit
Madhuri dDxit
The original dancing queen of Bollywood Madhuri Dixit has been missing from the limelight for quiet some time now. However, the actress is all set to make a comeback on the small screen as the judge of a reality show.
She was last seen in YRF productions Aaja Nachle, which turned out to be a huge box office dud. This Bollywood actress will be assessing other people on their dancing abilities on the fourth season of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, which is an Indian adaptation of Dancing with the Stars.
When asked Madhuri about this she says, “Dance has always been my passion and this show is also associated with that and this is the only reason I decided to be a judge on it. It took me a while to say yes. After I went back to LA and saw Dancing with the Stars, I was convinced to take this offer.”
Our very own Dhak Dhak girl will have the company of Remo D’Souza in the panel of judges. The name of the third judge has not been reveled yet, but there are rumors that Saroj Khan may join the panel. “I have no clue who the third judge is and it will be the decision of Sony. But it will be good for me if Sarojji is the third judge. I am keeping my fingers crossed,” says Madhuri.
As a judge for the dance show, she will be concentrating on the participants poise, grace and the attitude, rest of the details will be left for the other judges. Madhuri says, “The participants on this show are well-known in their own fields. They are people who are very ambitious and will put in their best for winning this challenge. I will be looking at how they project themselves and bring their personalities in the performance.”
Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone
We are sure that Siddharth Mallya will not like this. The recent buzz is that Deepika Padukone is not his girlfriend. Apparently, their affair is an official agreement for keeping them in news and to show him in the media as the right man in the town. In short, it means that he is the desirable heir for Dr. Vijay Mallya’s flamboyant boots.
The best way to get any confirmation in this gossip was from the lady herself. However, Deepika said that she will never agree about her affair with the Mallya scion. She says, “I don’t think I am ever going to be ready. There are various reasons. Last year there was too much focus on my personal life and no focus on my professional life. I have worked hard and I know people love me because of that and because where I am going out for dinners and with whom. Therefore, I want the speculations of Sid be and not clarify anything.”
In the past, she had admitted her relationship with Ranbir, but it did not help, because there were questions about her wedding and babies asked over and over again. Therefore, now the curiosity suits her. “It will not harm me. I will never stop leading my kind of life because of the speculations that happen every now and then, I am not concerned about what people have to say about me. Denying or admitting a relation will never stop people from speculating. I will not let anyone enter my personal life anymore. I have drawn a line here,” said Deepika.
Her next film Break ke Baad is about a couple who get back together after a break-up, so Dips is again being harassed with questions about Ranbir. All of this has lead to actress to go mad. Her replies are always guarded and she will never mention names, but all these are directly attributed to her ex-flame.
Everyone seems to be happy in their personal space and they are always cordial. So, we guess anything is possible.

Ashmit-Veena to star in Jism sequel

Image
By Akshay Kaushal

The Pakistani bombshell Veena Malik grabbed enough eyeballs with Asmit Patel in the Bigg Boss house. Veena and Asmit’s romance in the house is something which has become the talk of the town. That’s the reason why Pooja Bhatt thinks that the sultry pair is very apt for Jism 2 and they can do justice to John and Bispasha’s chemistry.

Veena with her killer moves and curvaceous figure has acquired the title of sex bomb in the Bigg Boss house and she always try to seduce Ashmit with all her panache and voluptuous physique. The on screen chemistry between them is truly sizzling and scintillating. It is beyond doubt if the two are taken in Jism then they are definitely going to set the box office on fire.

There was a buzz that Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez of Aladin fame has been approached to enact the leading lady. But this did not go well with the Jism and they openly expressed their displeasure over her name on a microblogging site. Pooja Bhatt also rubbished reports saying that they never thought of Jacqueline.

However, fans have suggested a very good option for Jism 2. Most of them have suggested the name of Pakistani actress Veena Malik, who has been popular in Bigg Boss 4 for her sizzling acts with inmate Bollywood actor Ashmit Patel. Their proximity on camera has grabbed many eyeballs and is being considered as perfect couple to replace Bipasha and John. However, Veena is quite far from a perfect figure when it comes to play a seductress in a movie like Jism 2. If she is considered seriously then she will require losing some extra kilos that she keeps showing frequently.

Madhur Bhandarkar: It's comedy time!

diltohbacchahaijifirstlook.jpg
By Hindustan Times
New Delhi, Dec. 1 -- Known for his hard-hitting realistic cinema, National award-inning director Madhur Bhandarkar has shifted focus to comedy films. His next is a romantic comedy, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, featuring Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and Omi Vaidya in lead roles.
The director, who feels his films on hard-hitting subjects have forced people to slot him as a serious director, admits that stepping out of his winning formula wasn't easy. "Why should I stick to a particular genre? I have always maintained that I want to experiment. I may make a love story, action film or anything else, but they'll always have my realistic touch," says Bhandarkar.
Bhandarkar says he respects the fact that people look for controversial films from him, but he wants to explore his humourous side. A fan of yesteryear directors Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee's simple films, Bhandarkar says, "I have a good sense of humour. DTBHJ is not a senseless comedy with cardboard characters."
The film is about three men - Omi Vaidya as an idealist looking for love, Ajay Devgn as a middle-aged divorcee in love with a young girl, and Emraan Hashmi as a flirt who discovers love. "A man is always a child at heart. This film talks about their problems in life and encounters in love," says Bhandarkar. "This is the first time that I am making a rom-com and [if] people loved my earlier films, they will definitely accept this movie too.

'Tera Kya Hoga...' not an answer to 'Slumdog': Sudhir Mishra

terakyahogajohnnyposter.jpg
By Robin Bansal
New Delhi, Nov 29 (IANS) Sudhir Mishra's much-delayed project "Tera Kya Hoga Johnny" will finally hit the screens Dec 17, but the director has brushed aside comparisons with the Oscar-winning sensation "Slumdog Millionaire" and says his film is an insider's tribute to Mumbai.
"This is an insider making a film. I belong to Mumbai, I live here. So there are a lot of things I take for granted (when it comes to the city and its influence in the movie). And I like 'Slumdog', but I didn't make 'Tera Kya Hoga Johnny' as an answer to that," Mishra told IANS in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.
"However, it could be called an answer too, as some people who saw it in London said so directly," he added.
"Tera Kya Hoga..." was shown as a work in progress at the London Film Festival and has been awaiting release since 2008.
Negating the "Slumdog" comparisons, Mishra, however, asserted that the movie is an ode to the maximum city.
"It is the story of hope, ambition and life of an unfortunate 16-year-old boy Johnny, who lives on the streets of Mumbai and sells coffee. The story is about how he pins his hope on another man (Neil Nitin Mukesh) and how it eventually turns out to be a thriller, seen through his eyes and a mysterious character," said the National Award winner.
"It is a story of resilience of all sorts of people who are trying to rewrite the screenplay of their lives. Mumbai is one of the cities in India that offers one a chance to do so and lets one be what one wants to be. It is a tribute to the maximum city," he added.
The fascination of Mishra, co-writer of Bollywood's cult classic "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron", with Mumbai is not new. He has earlier explored the city through movies like "Dharavi", "Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi" and "Chameli".
"I have a fascination for the city. I adore it and love it. I have an affection for that place. You can smell it in my work. I have always made films that revolve around Mumbai and its spirit," he said.
Set at a time when the city's officialdom is busy turning it into another Shanghai, "Tera Kya Hoga..." stars debutant Sikandar Agarwal in the lead. Neil, Soha Ali Khan, Karan Nath, Kay Kay Menon and Shahana Goswami have pivotal roles. It also stars filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Aditya Bhattacharya.
So what led to the long delay in its release?
"There were some issues... nothing to do with the film per se but with money, etc. It's all over now," said the director, whose last outing was "Khoya Khoya Chand" in 2007.
Major chunks of "Tera Kya Hoga Jhonny" were also leaked on YouTube. Asked if it will mar the commercial viability of the venture, Mishra said: "Not at all. It will in fact serve as a good promotional platform for the movie and help it. It will work as a kind of trailer."
"The version that people earlier saw was an older rough cut that went to a film festival as a work in progress. That's it. But it is now a brand new film with brand new music, some additional new footage and some scenes that have been reshot. It is now an absolutely fresh film," he added.
The new cut of "Tera Kya Hoga Johnny" will also traverse the festival circuit.
"The real 'Johnny' will now go to film festivals after the release. We want to release it in Mumbai and the rest of India first. The main purpose of the film is to engage the Indian audience and then the real cut will go to festivals post-that," he said.
Mishra doesn't rule out the possibilities of a sequel too.
"Yes, if the script works out, then we will definitely try out a sequel as the ending is such that it can be taken forward," he said.
His future projects include "Yeh Saali Zindagi", "Dhruv" and "Hitman".

Dolly's apology to Shweta Dolly's apology to Shweta

Image
Dolly Bindra’s dramatic re-entry in the 'Bigg Boss' house was somewhat shocking for the inmates, but everybody was in their best behavior and greeted her happily. Shweta Tiwari too, was cordial enough and there was just a courteous welcome for Dolly.

Right after things settled down, Bigg Boss announced that Dolly Bindra would be in the role of an empress for a day, she would dress up like one, get an afternoon siesta and all the inmates would have to be ready in her service.

Manoj Tiwari was chosen by Dolly to act as her Minister and Samir Soni as her attendant who had to do all chores like serving her food, protecting her from the harsh sunlight by carrying an umbrella over her head etc.

During the court session that empress Dolly Bindra had kept she apologized to all the inmates for her bad behavior before eviction. She specially apologized to Shweta Tiwari and said that she had realized what a blunder she had made when she had uttered such terrible words against Shweta.

Sonali Bendre and her car loss trauma

Image
Actress and television show host Sonali Bendre lost track of her car when she went to attend an event in the recent past. According to reports in the media, Sonali Bendre visited a hotel in Mumbai to attend an event when she lost sight of her car and her driver! What followed was a trauma for the actress and her aides who reportedly went on a search for the lost car, searching every nook and corner from the Marine Drive to the Churchgate area in Mumbai.

Media reports claim that Sonali Bendre first called her driver at the end of the event, but since his mobile network was unavailable, the actress herself decided to search for her car in the parking space of the hotel in Mumbai. However, the long search ended in futility. Neither the car nor the driver were to be seen anywhere, convincing the actress that her driver had stolen her car which was worth crores of rupees.

And just when Sonali Bendre returned to the hotel premises to call the police, then she sees standing on the hotel steps is her driver, completely unaware of the trauma his employer had to go through for the past couple of hours! Last heard, Sonali Bendre’s driver had dozed off inside the car, not realizing that his mobile phone was also switched off when he was busy enjoying his slumber.

The incident was indeed hilarious but we still do not know whether the Bollywood beauty had the spunk to laugh over it after fearing a car loss for more than an hour!

Shahrukh and Aamir the battle continues

Image
Bollywood stars Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan are two of the most popular Khans who are loved and adored by thousands of fans. However, as they say there cannot be two rulers in one kingdom, so the fight for the ultimate title has always been quite an issue with these two stars as they have always managed to topple each other at some point of time or the other.

There are those who believe that SRK is the ultimate B Town hero, others think that it is perfectionist Aamir Khan who is the be all and end all of Bollywood, but the war still wages on. To talk about B-Town releases, both are at an equal platform, as both stars have hits and super hits that are proof enough to show that each one has his own standing in the world of stardom.

However, there is a slight twist in this competition now. Reports are that both the stars are to do projects with International directors that too, both will be working on projects that deal with the basic storyline of the city of Mumbai.

Shahrukh Khan is to do a project with Danny Boyle, who is scheduled to adapt Suketu Mehta’s 'Maximum City', a novel which is very popular. Aamir Khan with director Paul Schrader, is to adapt 'Ex-Treme City' for producer Anubhav Sinha, which will be based in Dharavi, a slum area of Mumbai.

Now the argument that is going around is that will these two stars be able to deliver something different on the same subject? There is a group that feels that Mumbai is such a city with so much diversity that no two films made on the subject of this city’s life can be the same. Others feel that with the city of Mumbai having a somewhat same flavor, there is not much of a chance to have different flavors in the two films.

With movies like 'Slumdog Millionaire' and the just to be released 'Dhobi Ghat' which are both based on the city of Mumbai, albeit with different angles, it is somewhat being expected that a lot is still to be explored about this city, and hopefully Shahrukh’s and Aamir’s International projects on Mumbai will do the needful.

Pregnancy rumours hit Aishwarya in Duba

Rumours related to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have again started making the rounds. The rumours, this time, are related to her pregnancy not in India but in Dubai.
But rumours have become such a routine affair for Ash that she does not even clarify them. We presume that she chooses to laugh it off.
Ash had some interviews scheduled in Dubai, but they were cancelled at the last moment leading to speculation among the small community of Indian journalists in the Middle East.
" Unless it is a case of dodgy Indian curries that is slowly but surely emanating, the rumour mills are grinding to grist the possibility of a classic Ash diva tantrum because she is pregnant," quoted the local newspaper in Dubai.
Sources had informed the newspaper that Ash was not well and hence had cancelled the said interviews. This is not the first time that the buzz about her pregnancy hasreached us.
Had we believed in all these gossips Ash and Abhishek should have had a few babies by now. We guess we should leave the couple alone and give them the benefit of doubt and the honour to make the announcement themselves.
After all, their marriage was the biggest ever in Bollywood and when the Bachchans will confirm any such news it would surely be the biggest one, too.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is said to be in the news for her pregnancy confirmation. There is news that the actress is having a baby bump these days and so is wearing loose clothes to almost every public event. According to the media sources, Ash is never spotted in loose clothes in public events and always wears body hugging outfits to display her figure.
But nowadays, the former miss world is seen in loose clothes which indicate that she is hiding something from the media. During the last 4 public appearances, ash was seen in loose outfits which mainly hided her below part to the most.

There is news that the actress is expecting a baby and wants to hide this from the media. For this reason, she is seen in loose, but fashionable outfits in public appearances. It is a fact that after the release of Mani ratnam’s GURU release, Ash and Abhi announced their engagement plans. And so after the release of “Raavan” ash is said to announce her pregnancy to the media.

Kangana Ranaut takes revenge!

Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut
Lately, there has been a lot of stress on the sets of Tezzz in London. Last week, the shoots were suddenly called off due to rains. Ajay Devgan knew about this, but Kangana was not informed about this until later and she was very livid. The actress got her manager to fire the production in-charge, and make a fuss of her not being informed sooner.
According to a source, “The following day, Kangs and Ajay were to shoot at Birmingham, but she reported late on the set, to make a point. She made the entire cast and crew wait for her.” However, the spokesperson of the actress denied of any such event. She said, “Kangana is one of the most professional actresses going around and only under extenuating circumstances she would come later. If it was raining and shooting got cancelled why will she have problems and throw tantrums? She was happy to go shopping, like she does after every pack-up.”
The spokesperson added further that she was late, because there was no water in her hotel room. “She was late just one day because there was no water in the hotel. Finally she left for the shoot without having a bath as she did not want the cast and crew to wait for her. Some person on the sets is out to malign her and are planting stories about her.”
According to the producer’s version, “We have been shooting since the last 12 days and lost a couple of hours in the evening due to rain. But Kangana was not needed for those scenes. On the next day, Kangana was late, because she had to be dressed as bride and getting the make-up and saree on took a lot of time. Kangana has been very cooperative on the sets and we are happy to be working with her.”
